In 2002, Egyptian President Hosni Mubark laid the foundation stone for the National Museum of Civilization. It is one of the world's most important and largest archaeological museums in the world. It is the first museum that collects the different cultures of different ages of Egypt. The museum contains more than 50,000 items that tell the stages of the development of civilization from antiquity to modern times. The museum's artifacts are displayed in a large, modern, air-conditioned, well-lit large room. They tell of the most important achievements of Egyptian civilization such as agriculture, writing, state and society, culture, calendar, belief and literature. It also contains models, photographs, manuscripts, paintings, artifacts, and monuments from the Stone Age, the Pharaonic Age, the Greco-Roman Period, the Coptic-Arab Period, the Sudanese Civilization, and modern times.
The royal mummies, which were already in the ancient Egyptian museum in Tahrir Square, were also moved to this museum 2 years ago in 2021.
